of Fish in Lake Lelång.
Perch Occurrence: The whole lake, high medium weight. Feed: small fish, insects and small animals. Spawning time: May. Swedish sports fishing record: 3,15 kg. Fishing methods: angling, spinning, jigging and trolling. Fishing period: practically the year around. Pike Occurrence: The whole lake. Large catches more likely after the spawning time in April-May. Feed: Mainly fish. Spawning time: April-May. Fishing methods: Spinning or trolling. Fishing period: Almost all year, except during the spawning time. Swedish sports fishing record: 22,5 kg. Large char Occurrence: Has been put out in the whole lake for several years. Recaught fish show remarkable growth! Feed: small fish, crayfish. Spawning time: The Autumn( October ). Fishing methods: trolling, spinning or jigging. Swedish sports fishing record: 8,705 kg. Fishing period: best time right after the breaking-up of the ice until early summer, or autumn fishing in October-November. There is also the possibility to jig on the ice during the winter! Large salmon trout Occurrence: put out and wild. The large salmon trout has been put out during several years to the same extent as the large char. Furthermore, salmon trout have migrated from nearby waters. Feed: small fish. Spawning time: October. Swedish sports fishing record: 17 kg. Fishing methods: trolling/ spinning. Fishing period: In Lake Lelång autumn fishing has generally been the most rewarding, but spring fishing is supposed to be equally rich. It is also possible to catch the salmon trout during the summer. Calm evenings sometimes hide a watching fish. Burbot Occurrence: abundant, in the whole lake. Feed: fish. Spawning time: February. Swedish sports fishing record: 7,88 kg. Fishing methods: jigging.Use large minnows, baited with bits of fish. Fishing period: During the spawning time, around spawning shoals. Night fishing for best result. Gullspång trout Occurrence: put out and migrated from nearby waters. The Gullspång trout is sometimes easily mistaken for the salmon trout. Recent trolling has resulted in caught specimen weighing up to 10 kg. in addition, large fish caught in nets have been reported. Feed: small fish. Spawning time: October. Fishing methods: trolling. Swedish sports fishing record: 17,5 kg. Fishing period: best fishing during the autumn, September- November. Bream Occurrence: the whole lake, but mainly in shallow bays, preferrably in connection with brook outflows. Large grown in Lake Lelång. Feed: insects, maggots and small animals. Spawning time: May-June. Fishing methods: angling, using worms, maggots, dough or corn. Swedish sports fishing record: 6,3kg. Fishing period: practically all summer. The early summer period following right after the spawning time is probably the the best time to get in closer contact with the bream. Roach Occurrence: The whole lake. Especially in the more shallow areas. Feed: insects, plankton, maggots, roe and algae. Spawning time: May- June. Swedish sports fishing record: 1,22 kg. Fishing methods: angling (see bream ). Obs! Use small hooks. Fishing period: All summer. Eel Occurrence: the whole lake. Large specimen! Fishing methods: bottom angling with earth worms or small fish. Fishing period: the late summer and the autumn. The eel gets more active as the evenings get darker, which means, that evening and night fishing are to recommend. Try your luck at the mouth of a brook or a stream. Exciting but trying fishing which requires a large portion of patience! Remaining Species of Fish in Lake Lelång: whitefish, pollan (abundant ), smelt, all three kinds of bullheads, minnow, bleak and rudd. In the smaller lakes belonging to the conservation area there are more whitefish, and in Dammtjärn you will also find the tench, for those who are interested in angling. It is also possible to find smaller numbers of pike-perch. |
