Some Fishing Adventures
Experienced During Fishing Trips on Lake Lelång!
"A Herrenäs
Viking". This adventure took place during the long line fishing in
the late autumn. Mr Ingemar Dalsvall from Herrenäs went through and emptied
the eel line. While doing so he could see, that a large eel had been caught
on the line, which in turn had stuck on a log on the bottom. Ingemar,
a true Viking, took off his clothes, put a knife between his teeth and
jumped into the chilly water. Three metres below the surface he managed
to cut the eel loose, whereby he swam to the surface. Both the eel and
the long line were saved!
" A Real
Perch Catch" Mr Hans Nilsson, Bengtsfors, tells us an episode from
the "good old days" Hans and his father were fishing for perch in the
bay inside the island "Taraldsön", using bleak as bait. Suddenly a large
fish surfaced and started chasing the small bait. Hans reacted spontaneously
and threw out his hook. He did not have to wait for the first bite, which
came as a real surprise to him. The line and the rod disappeared into
the deep like a missile! Naturally the two fishermen were slightly annoyed,
to say the least, but shortly afterwards they caught sight of a long stick
out in the bay, pointing up like a navigation mark!? When this stick started
moving side-ways, the two fishermen realized that it was nothing less
than Hans' fishing rod floating away out there in the bay. Without hesitation
they set off at full speed towards the rod, and shortly afterwards they
were able to save both the rod and a 2,5 kg perch!
"Pulled
the pike up with the deep rig" Mr Bengt-Göran Jansson, one of the
frequent trolling fishermen of lake Lelång, tells the story: I was out
trolling on Lake Lelång, when suddenly there was a bite on one of the
rods. After yet another bite I was surprised to find that the line had
been bitten off. Well, a new wobbler had to be attached to the line, so
the rig had to come in. Surprisingly enough the broken line had stuck
on the rig. Suddenly the line came to life. After some "natural" drilling
a fine pike was landed. The pike, with a maximum of bad luck, had simply
got itself stuck on the rig after the breaking of the line.
