The equipment needed, apart from a suitable boat, are spinning rods, a deep rig, a sonar (not essential), rod holders and a number of baits. Larger wobblers and spoons are good for pike fishing. Different colours can do the trick, but red and white wobblers are rather safe bets. Trout and char prefer the smaller spoons, like the Rappala, the Bomber and the so-called flatter spoons. The colours should be green, natural, blue and orange, and the size should be between 8 to 12 cm. The autumn and spring fishing for salmon uses a depth around 10-15 metres. During the early spring and late autumn the fishing might be good even at the surface, which means that no deep rigs are needed. The pike can be caught throughout the whole year as long as the water is not frozen. The first half of September is usually the best time to go fishing for pike. A short
